February 2010LA NATURE DES CHOSES"La Nature des Choses" means "The Nature of Things". Anna and Christian took a very playful approach to the perceived nature of things in their reworking of the simple black-and-white drawings that Frédéric had sent them : while changing nothing about the drawing itself, they plays with colour impressions on coloured paper. The drawings were printed either in positive or negative, which is as much a reinterpretation of the original drawing as well as intelligently confusing perceptions of base/print hierarchy : often what one might take for a background is the print, while the contours of figures are in actually the base paper colour left unprinted. This is a lovely wacky book that one can tell they really enjoyed working on.
