My Forest, an exhibition by Jenni Rope at Bongoût

Exhibition dates: January 22 - February 27, 2010.

Enter the forest. A walk down the path might lead you to the climbing tree. In the swamp you can see a pyramid rise. Stop for a moment and hear the lambs roll around. This forest appears as an abstract landscape of emotions and wonders, not necessarily enchanted or frightening though. The forest is not static, everything is in a constant state of flux – growing, rising, falling, decomposing.

Jenni Rope (b. 1977) is an artist living and working in Helsinki, Finland. She works with drawing, painting, book art and animation. Her work has appeared in various books and exhibitions both in Finland and abroad. She is also the founder of the independent publishing house Napa Books aswell as Napa shop & gallery space in Helsinki.

A 'mobile' Napa bookshop will travel with the exhibit.

My Forest, eine Ausstellung von Jenni Rope

Vernissage: Freitag 22. Januar, 2010 um 7 pm.
Ausstellung bis zum 27. Februari.

Tritt ein in den Wald. Es könnte sein, dass dich der Weg zu dem Kletterbaum führt. Aus den Sümpfen erhebt sich, wie du siehst, eine Pyramide. Halte inne für einen Moment – und lausche den Lämmern, die sich hin und her werfen im Gras. Wie eine abstrakte Gefühls- und Wunderlandschaft mutet dieser Wald an. Ohne deshalb verwunschen oder beängstigend zu sein. Dieser Wald ist nicht erstarrt. Alles in ihm ist in einem unaufhörlichen Zustand des Flusses – wächst, schwillt an, schwillt ab, zerfällt.

Jenni Rope (geb. 1977) lebt und arbeitet als Künstlerin in Helsinki, Finnland. Zeichnung und Malerei sowie Buchkust und Animation gehören zu ihren Arbeitsfeldern. Ihre Werke sind sowohl in Finnland als auch im Ausland in diversen Büchern und Ausstellungen präsentiert worden. Sie ist Gründerin von Napa Book, einem unabhängigen Verlag mit angeschlossenem Buchladen und Ausstellungsraum in Helsinki.

Eine mobile Version des Napa-Buchladens wird die Ausstellung begleiten.

2010 feiern wir die Neueröffnung der Siebdruckwerkstätten in der Torstr. 110. Am Abend der Vernissage können Besucher unser neues Reich erkunden und druckfrische Arbeiten von Jenni Rope erstehen.
